Otford nursery school is situated in the grounds of Otford Primary School. We are a teaching nursery, with children learning through play and fun activities. The nursery has an enclosed garden/play area and a covered area so the children can access the garden in all weathers.
Otford Nursery School takes children from two to five years of age. We believe that a close working relationship with parents and carers is fundamental to the education of children. Small children will often feel very insecure when leaving parents for the first time. At the nursery we are very aware of this and we will work together with you to find a strategy that works for your child.
The nursery is open from 8.30 am – 3.00 pm Monday to Friday. Children who stay all day may bring a packed lunch. Children may also stay for lunch after a morning session or before an afternoon session, charged at £5. The nursery will be open during school term time only and will be closed on bank holidays.
We offer 3 and 4 year old Free Entitlement via Government Funding. The term after children turns 3 years of age, they are entitled to 15 hours of free funding per week. Further details regarding Free Entitlement are available from Carole-Anne. We also are involved in the Free for 2 Year old scheme and the Working Families 2 year old and 30 hour scheme, subject to available spaces, please speak to Carole-Anne for further information.
Our pattern for funding is:
For children accessing 15-hour funding, 3-hour sessions in the morning or afternoon between 8.30am – 11.30am and 12.00pm – 3.00pm over 5 days of the week. Children may stay for lunch either before an afternoon session or after a morning session, charged at £5. If parents require full days, we offer a 30-minute extended afternoon period until 3pm, charged at £5 or the child can be collected at 2.30pm.
For children accessing 30-hour funding we offer 6-hour sessions between 8.30am – 2.30pm, over 5 days of the week. Children may stay for lunch either before an afternoon session or after a morning session, charged at £5. If parents require full days, we offer a 30-minute extended afternoon period until 3pm, charged at £5 or the child can be collected at 2.30pm
Please note that all hours that fall outside this pattern will be charged accordingly.
Lunch
When providing lunch for your child we ask that parents do not include chocolate or nuts this is due to our nursery being nut free.
ENROLMENT/FEES
Children may enrol for up to ten sessions with a suggested minimum of two sessions per week.
The cost of each session is as follows:
2 yo £27 per 3 hour session
3-4yo £25 per 3 hour session
Lunch £5
Fees must be paid termly, in advance. Invoices will be sent home during the second week of each term and must be paid by the half term week, unless prior arrangement has been agreed with nursery management. Cheques should be made payable to Otford Nursery School.
A half term’s notice is required to cancel a place or a half term’s fees may be paid in lieu. (Only applicable to unfunded hours). Failure to pay on time may lead to your child losing his/her place.
UNIFORM
The purchase of the nursery uniform is not compulsory, however if you choose to, we have for sale a navy blue sweatshirt and T-shirts with the Owl logo on the front. Please ensure that all items of clothing are clearly marked with your child’s name. Please see the uniform page.
